12:41 p.m. - 2008-02-11 Friday afternoon saw an upswing as I collected the mail. There, in all it's glory was a letter from the dreaded insurance company. I had been in a fierce nine week letter writing campaign trying to get them to pay for $4500 in surgical costs that they had refused to acknowledge. At last they had given in and were going to pay. Thoughts of new carpet began to run through my mind as I recalculated the budget on the fly. As God as my witness I will not die with old, nasty carpet under my feet. The weekend continued the upswing as much progress was made in the demo of the old storage/green house addition. The sheetrock was loaded on the truck and taken to a landfill. The fiberglass insulation was recycled, that is it was taken to the attic and spread out atop the original insulation. We will see if this helps with the utility bills. It was a busy weekend but satisfying. Highlights included a rib-eye and shrimp dinner on Saturday night, chocolate cake, the son working without complaint, and sleeping with the wife. I could get used to three day weekends like this.
